The news of his death by suicide at his corporate office in Bengaluru has come as a shock to many. The 56-year-old passed away unexpectedly while he was still actively involved in business. CJ Roy had started his career as an ordinary man and went on to make a strong name for himself in the real estate industry.
The Confident Group has made major investments in the real estate sector across Kerala, Bengaluru, and the Gulf countries. The group recorded remarkable growth in this field. CJ Roy’s ability to understand changing trends in real estate and his long-term vision helped him rise to the top of the industry. Born in Kochi, Roy completed his college education and later earned a doctorate in Business Administration from SBS Business School in Switzerland. He entered the business world after resigning from his job at the multinational company HP. Roy was known for thinking differently from conventional builders, which helped the company grow without falling into heavy debt. The group also earned the trust of customers, which is considered crucial in the real estate sector.
The company has more than 15,000 customers across nearly 200 major projects. Apart from real estate, the group expanded into hospitality, entertainment, education, aviation, and international trade. The Confident Group has also sponsored several reality shows in Kerala. Internationally, the group served as the title sponsor of the West Indies cricket team.
CJ Roy also made his presence felt in the film industry by producing four Malayalam films. He was a person who left his mark across various sectors in Kerala.
