THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An order has been issued to withdraw cases registered in the state in connection with agitations like Sabarimala women's admission and amendment of citizenship law. As per the order, cases that are not of a serious criminal nature will be withdrawn. The order also said that the state police chief, district collectors and district police chiefs could take a decision after examining the current status and nature of the cases.
There are more than 2300 cases related to Sabarimala in different districts. Of these, Kannur district has the highest number of cases. Meanwhile, there are 490 cases related to the Citizenship Amendment Act protest. Kozhikode district has the highest number of cases. Cases of destruction of public property, assault on women and incitement to secularism will be withdrawn after seeking legal advice.
