COVID-19: Kerala reports 2776 new cases on Friday; 2504 cases through contact 16 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 2776 COVID-19 cases on Friday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 2504 persons developed the disease through contact including 196 cases without an identified source of infection. 66 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 10 health workers contracted the disease on Friday.

3638 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 43,562 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 16 deaths due to the virus on Friday with the toll rising to 4271.

In the last 24 hours, 66,103 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 4.20.

With the addition of 1 new region and the removal of 2, there are 357 hotspots in the state.
