Driver charred to death after gas tanker and lorry collide in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: A lorry driver was burnt alive when a gas tanker and the lorry collided at Kollengode on the Kozhikode-Palakkad national highway. The accident happened Friday morning at 4.45 am. The tanker was carrying 18 tonnes of cooking gas. The tanker's fuel tank exploded causing the lorry to catch fire. The dead has not been identified. The fire force reached the spot and doused the flames and said was taking precautionary measures to prevent a gas leak. The tanker lorry from Mangalore to Kerala and lorry proceeding to Kozhikode from Tamil Nadu collided.
