Locals rescue child left inside locked car by father in Kundara

KUNDARA: A man locked his two-year-old son in a car at around noon and left. The locals smashed the glass and took out the child who gasped for air. The incident took place at Kundara Hospital around 12 noon yesterday.

Kundara police have registered a case against the boy's father Rijoy, a native of Kanyakuzhi in Kundara's Cherumoodu. The boy, who struggling inside the car, was found by passers-by. The search for the owner went in vain as he couldn't be found anywhere. The child was then rescued by smashing the car's glass. The baby, who was crying, was comforted by staff of a nearby home appliance shop.

The locals berated the father who returned half an hour later. After the police calmed down the situation, other relatives were called and the child was handed over.

The locals alleged that the father went to get drunk after leaving the child in the car. He was released without undergoing a medical examination. The car was parked near a bar in Kundara.
