Kerala records 6194 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, 17 deaths, test positivity rate at 10

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6194 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5596 persons developed the disease through contact including 404 cases without an identified source of infection. 171 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 23 health workers contracted the disease on Saturday.

2584 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 39,778 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 17 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 4767.

In the last 24 hours, 61,957 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 10.

With the addition of 17 new regions and the removal of 3, there are 382 hotspots in the state.
