Kerala records 19577 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 28 deaths; test positivity rate at 17.45

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 19577 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 17,839 persons developed the disease through contact including 1275 cases without an identified source of infection. 397 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 66 health workers contracted the disease on Tuesday.

3880 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,18,673 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 28 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 4978.

As part of the mass testing, 3,00,971 samples were collected on Friday and Saturday from different parts of the state. 1,12,221 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 17.45.

With the addition of 28 new regions and the removal of 3, there are 493 hotspots in the state.
