KOLKATA: Former West Bengal Minister Rajib Banerjee, who had quit the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the Assembly polls, met TMC leader Kunal Ghosh on Saturday amid speculations of his 'ghar wapsi'.
Rajib Banerjee arrived at TMC state secretary Kunal Ghosh's residence in Kolkata on Saturday. However, he termed it a "courtesy meeting".
"I came for a courtesy meeting. There is no politics in this," said Banerjee. When asked whether he is going to rejoin the TMC, he said, "There were no such talks. I am still in BJP."
The absence of three BJP heavyweights Mukul Roy, Shamik Bhattacharya and Rajib Banerjee at the recent meeting of the party's West Bengal unit had sparked rumours in the state politics.
Mukul Roy, meanwhile, returned to the TMC and it is also speculated that Banerjee and Bhattacharya will also rejoin the party. Not only these leaders, many other TMC turncoats are also itching for a 'ghar wapsi'. Some have even expressed regret over their decision to quit the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led party.
