Kerala logs 13,720 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 12,471 cases through contact, 147 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 13,720 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Among these, 12,471 persons developed the disease through contact, including 638 cases without an identified source of infection. 86 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 75 health workers contracted the disease on Wednesday.

15,689 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,09,794 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 147 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 11,655.

District wise breakup of positive cases:
Ernakulam 1793, Thiruvananthapuram 1678, Malappuram 1350, Kollam 1342, Palakkad 1255, Thrissur 1162, Kozhikode 1054, Alappuzha 859, Kottayam 704, Kannur 675, Pathanamthitta 437, Kasargod 430, Idukki 303, Wayanad 228.

1,12,521 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 11.79.

With the addition of 19 regions, there are 908 hotspots in the state.
