Timber smuggling: UDF to stage protests in front of 1,000 government offices, says MM Hassan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF convener MM Hassan said that timber smuggling worth Rs 250 crore took place in the state. While demanding that the role of the Chief Minister and the former Forest and Revenue Ministers should be investigated, Hassan added that the inquiry should be overseen by the High Court. UDF will stage a protest demanding a judicial investigation. He added that the UDF would stage a protest in front of 1,000 government offices on Friday.

Hassan said that co-operation and protest were the policies of the UDF and that the UDF would co-operate for the good deeds of the government and fight against corruption. "The UDF will conduct a study on the K-Rail project. For this, the UDF sub-committee was appointed under the chairmanship of MK Muneer. The committee will conduct a study and submit a report within ten days," he said. Hasan also said that the UDF will discuss the issue and announce its position after studying going through the report. When quizzed about the violation of Covid protocol in the KPCC office, he said that Congress would face it legally.
