NEW DELHI: Senior congress leader P C Chacko said congress chief Rahul Gandhi has not agreed to contest from one of the Lok Sabha seats in Kerala. If any of the leaders say that Rahul has agreed to contest from Wayanad, then it is contrary to facts. The truth is that Rahul has not told anyone. However, it is good if he contests from a constituency in south India, Chacko told reporters in Delhi.
Chacko said, “I don’t agree with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the allegation that Rahul contesting against the CPM in Kerala gives a wrong message. There is a precedent that the parties that stand together in the national level compete against each other in the local level. Congress committees of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala had requested Rahul to contest from the south. However, the chief has not taken a final decision. I don’t understand why it is being circulated that Rahul will contest from Wayanad. Some have vested interests.”
