'Parent should accompany, Covid negative certificate must': Karnataka eases Covid rules for students appearing for exams

karnataka

BENGALURU: Karnataka has eased the conditions for those appearing for exams, treatment and death ceremonies, including from Kerala. Students who come to write the exam can come with a parent with a Covid negative certificate and write the exam. But they are not allowed to stay in Karnataka for more than three days. The decision was made in view of the fact that various examinations will be held this month.

Seven days of compulsory quarantine is required for permanent students and employees staying in Karnataka. A quarantine centre should be set up by the institution where the students study and the companies for those who work. They do not have a home quarantine permit. Students can enter the college only on the seventh day of quarantine after acquiring a Covid negative certificate. Employees should follow the same conditions. However, there are exemptions for children below the age of two and those traveling to other states via Karnataka.

But quarantine is not required for funerals or medical treatment. They must return within three days. Currently, Karnataka has tightened the Covid quarantine rules for those from Kerala.
