Only 1.4 lakh doses of Covishield remain in state, severe crisis in six districts, state to face vaccine shortage again, says health minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said there is a shortage of vaccine in the state and have asked the Centre to provide more vaccine as early as possible. The health minister told the media that the stock of Covishield in six districts of the state is completely over and no one is interested in taking Covaxin. Covishield vaccine is out of stock in Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Only 1.4 lakh doses of Covishield remain in the state.

Meantime, Covaxin is available in all districts but its stock is limited. The minister said that many people are reluctant to take Covaxin and it is an unnecessary concern and Covaxin and Covishield are equally effective and safe, she said.
