THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the state. The meteorological department has warned that low pressure is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal in the next few hours and the monsoon will intensify in the Arabian Sea.
The rains will intensify mainly in central and north Kerala. Yellow alert has been sounded in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod will receive rains tomorrow. These places are likely to receive 7 to 11 cm of rain. Strong winds are expected along with rain. Following this, fishing has been banned from the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep till Wednesday. It has been raining for two days in the state.
