KOCHI: Amidst reports that the BJP was considering appointing Prof. TJ Joseph, whose right hand was chopped off by Islamic fanatics, as a member of the National Commission for Minorities, BJP MP Suresh Gopi visited TJ Joseph at the latter's residence on Wednesday.
Suresh Gopi reached Joseph's house in Muvattupuzha yesterday on his way to Thrissur from Thekkady. TJ Joseph presented the English translation of his autobiography to Suresh Gopi.
The BJP central leadership wants Prof Joseph to be given a constitutional post. It must be noted that the meeting between the BJP leader and prof Joseph took place while the jihad issue was heating up.
Suresh Gopi asked for information, including prof Joseph's biodata. There are a few vacancies in the National Minorities Commission chaired by Iqbal Singh Lalpura.
Meanwhile, prof Joseph said to Kerala Kaumudi that he did not receive such an offer. However, he added that he will see it as a recognition if the government offers such a position.
