Teacher sentenced to 29 years and six months in prison for sexually abusing Class One student

THRISSUR: A teacher has been sentenced to 29 years and six months in prison for sexually abusing a Class 1 student. Nilambur native Abdul Rafeeq (44), a moral science teacher at a private school in Pawaratty, was sentenced by the Kunnamkulam Fast-Track Special POCSO court. Abdul Rafeeq was also slapped with a fine of Rs 2.15 lakh by the court.

The incident took place during a school excursion in 2012. Rafeeq sexually abused the girl who was lying in the back seat of the bus on the way back to school.
