'All those above poverty line are not millionaires': Court asks why post-Covid treatment is not made free

covid-treatment-

KOCHI: The high court has asked the government about making post-covid treatment free for a month after a patient test Covid negative. The court questioned this while considering the review petitions related to Covid treatment. Post-Covid diseases are prevalent in the current scenario. The court also asked why post-Covid treatment could not be made free in a situation where deaths after patients testing Covid negative are considered Covid deaths.

However, the government told the court that a small amount is being levied from those above the poverty line with an annual income of over Rs 3 lakh. The court asked how a person with a salary of Rs 27,000 could get a month's treatment and how could patients find the money for other expenses, including food. The court pointed out that not everyone above the poverty line is a millionaire. The petition will be reconsidered on October 27.
