THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has warned people to be extra vigilant for the next 24 hours as the meteorological department has warned of heavy rains in the state. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala as a result of low pressure in the Arabian Sea. Heavy rains have lashed the southern and central districts since this morning. The chief minister in a Facebook post said the northern districts will also receive heavy rains this evening.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that orange alert has been sounded in the districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode today and extreme vigilance should be maintained for the next 24 hours. The chief minister said that people living along the river banks and below the dams should be vigilant and follow the instructions of the authorities as there is a possibility of water level rising in the rivers and water flowing out of some dams.
