Rain havoc: No lapse in rescue operations, says Minister K Rajan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue Minister K Rajan has said that there has been no lapse in rescue operations following landslides and heavy rains in various parts of the state. Rescue operations began as soon as the disaster was known. The minister said he would look into whether there was any lapse.

Meanwhile, government figures show that 35 people have died in the last six days due to rains in the state. Twenty-five people were killed in two days. Thirteen died in Kottayam, nine in Idukki, three in Malappuram, two each in Alappuzha and Kannur and one each in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kozhikode districts.

The state has forecast four days of rain from Wednesday. A yellow alert was issued in 10 districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram on Wednesday.
