CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) minister PK Sekar Babu has shared a meal with a woman who was denied 'Annadhanam' at a temple in the name of her caste. The minister visited the temple on Friday and had lunch with the discriminated woman and her community members. A controversy had erupted after the woman, who belonged to the Narikurava caste, was denied 'Annadhanam' by the temple authorities.

The woman had complained that the authorities of Kancheepuram Thalasaiyanar temple had insulted her and her family members during the Annadhanam. A video of the incident also went viral on social media.

Upon learning about the incident, Minister PK Sekar Babu visited the temple and took stock of the situation. "It was an unfortunate incident. I believe that the woman and the members of her community are happy now. On Saturday, nearly 100 people from the community shared food with me at the Annadhanam.," he said.
