THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered a case against Pala Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt on charges of inciting religious hatred through narcotics jihad remark. The case was registered by the Kuruvilangad police on the instructions of the Pala Magistrate Court. The case was filed by All India Imams Council Kottayam district president Abdul Aziz Moulavi, Advocate KN Prashanth and Advocate CP Ajmal.

The controversial speech of Mar Joseph Kallarangatt was delivered on September 8 at St. Mary Forane Church in Kuravilangad. "Special groups have been set up in various parts of Kerala to target drug addicts and Hindu youth for drug and other addictions. The aim is to destroy other religions through such conspiracies in areas where war could not be fought with weapons", the bishop said in his controversial speech. On September 24, Abdul Aziz Moulavi lodged a complaint at the Kuravilangad police station demanding that a case be registered against him. However, the police were not ready to register a case. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the SP.
