Thief found bathing in house of Minister Antony Raju, hands him over to police

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A thief who broke into the ancestral home of Minister Antony Raju in Poonthura was caught by the family and handed over to the police. The incident happened on Sunday. The Poonthura police arrested Lawrence (58) of Munduthara ward in Anchuthengu. A chain of five sovereigns and a locket were recovered from him.

The minister's brother Selvan, his family, mother and her home nurse stay in this house. The thief was spotted when Selvan's children returned home late night after attending a ceremony at their relative's house. When Selvan's son Sreejith walked to the house after parking his car, saw a man with a towel on his head coming out of the room.

Tried to catch him following suspicion. Selvan and his wife, who were at home heard a noise while he was trying to flee. All inmates of the house together caught him. There was soap foam all over his body. Selvan’s wife Laly’s chain and locket were found stolen. The gold ornaments were found after the police questioned him. He was produced in the court and remanded.
