District in Kerala reports alarming number of extramarital affairs, says police

KOTTAYAM: Police have arrested a woman who left her six-month-old baby and went with her husband's friend. Aryamol (21), a resident of Kongandoor in Ayarkunnam was arrested. She left the baby and went with her husband's friend Arun (23), of Velloorssery in Kidangoor. Both were produced in court and remanded.

Police said cases of extramarital affairs are on the rise in the district. A Thrikkodithanam resident who abandoned her one-year-old child was also arrested yesterday. Donna (26), a native of Chanjody in Thrikkodithanam abandoned her child and went with her boyfriend on the pretext of buying nutritious food from the Anganwadi. She went with Puthuparambil Shyam Kumar (32), a neighbour who is divorced.

After missing for a long time, the family found the woman's phone at home while investigating. Her husband lodged a complaint with the police after seeing messages sent to the neighbour on Facebook. The two were nabbed from Bangalore during a search of the mobile phone location of Shyam.
