Mofiya's suicide: CPI criticizes police

cpi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI mouthpiece has criticised police over the controversy surrounding the suicide of law student Mofiya Parveen. It is also noteworthy that the CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, who had denied the allegations raised by national leader Annie Raja and party general secretary D Raja against the Kerala police, is the editor-in-chief of the party mouthpiece that has now come up criticising the police.

According to the party mouthpiece, it was unfortunate that some of the actions of the police were tarnishing the image of the Left government. 'It is not a coincidence that the name of the police inspector was mentioned in the suicide note of a law student in Aluva. Earlier, it was alleged that the same officer had failed to gather information in connection with the gruesome murder of another woman. It was reported that the SP had reported that this police officer should be removed from the charge of law and order and suspended from service. He was charged with serious misconduct, professional irresponsibility and illegal acquisition of property. Such people are an insult not only to the reputation of the police but also to democracy itself,' the party mouthpiece stated.
