THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the night curfew following the Omicron spread, the operation of theatres will be restricted. Second shows will not be allowed in theatres these days as part of the nighttime restrictions from Thursday to Sunday. The government has said it will not allow shows after 10 pm.

The decision to impose nighttime restrictions was made at a Covid review meeting last day. Shops must be closed by 10 p.m. Crowds and unnecessary travel will not be allowed. Directions were given to tighten the police check. Police inspections will be tightened. The decision is aimed at preventing crowded New Year celebrations. The decision on whether to extend the regulation will be taken later. The Union Ministry of Health had asked the states to tighten controls in view of the Omicron outbreak. States, including Karnataka, had imposed night curfews.
