THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the release of a video showing a police officer assaulting a train passenger, the AIYF has come up criticising the Home department and the Kerala police. Lashing out at the police force, AIYF state secretary Jismon said that the number of criminals in Kerala police has increased. He also criticised the Home department by stating that the atrocities committed by the police have tarnished the image of the Left Front's police policy. Jismon also demanded that the incidents should be investigated to find whether the Home Department was at fault.

The passenger was beaten and kicked by the police officer for travelling without a ticket on the Maveli Express. Meanwhile, department-level action has been taken against ASI Pramod in connection with the incident. He will be removed from duties in the Railways. The Railway Administration DySP will investigate the incident.
