KOCHI: Usha, the wife of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, has acquired a Puttu Maker and the 'technology' behind Puttu during a two-day visit to Kerala. Usha was fascinated by Puttu, the favourite breakfast dish of Keralites, when she was served the dish for breakfast during her stay at the Ernakulam Government Guest House. After eating Puttu, Usha headed straight to the kitchen and enquired the chefs of the tourism department about the technique of making Puttu. Later, she sent a staff to the market and bought two kinds of Puttu makers.
It was the staff of the Tourism Department that prepared the food for the Vice President and his family. The Vice President and his family returned to Delhi after enjoying various dishes, including roasted Pearlspot (Karimeen) and the traditional Sadya served on a banana leaf. Venkaiah Naidu preferred backwater fishes. 21 dishes were prepared for the guests. The Vice President did not hesitate to tell Minister P Rajeev that all dishes tasted good.
