THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that the Covid precautionary dose vaccination will start on Monday in the state. The precautionary dose will be given to health workers, Covid frontline warriors, and those over 60 years of age with related illnesses. The precautionary dose can be taken 9 months after the second dose of the vaccine. Booking for the precautionary dose will start on Sunday. Reserve doses can be obtained directly or through online bookings. It is best to book online to avoid time-wasting. In the wake of Omicron, the Minister requested that all these sections should take the precautionary dose as per their respective rotations.
At the same time, 1,22,701 children between the ages of 15 and 18 have been taken the first dose of the Covid vaccine in the state, the minister said. A total of 4,41,670 children were vaccinated in the state. With this, more than a quarter (29%) of children at this age were vaccinated.
District wise breakup of vaccination among teenagers:
Thiruvananthapuram 7871, Kollam 9896, Pathanamthitta 5141, Alappuzha 9185, Kottayam 11,776, Idukki 1743, Ernakulam 1856, Thrissur 19,156, Palakkad 12,602, Malappuram 10,581, Kozhikode 3528, Wayanad 3929, Kannur 21,626 and Kasaragod 3811 were vaccinated.
