Covid cases rising sharply in state, review meet to be convened soon, more restrictions likely to be imposed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Covid cases are rising sharply in the state., 5944 people were diagnosed with the disease yesterday. So far, 49,547 people have died of the virus. The number of Omicron cases rose to 328.

In the wake of transmission of the disease turning severe, a Covid review meeting will be convened tomorrow or the day after. After seeking the advice of an expert committee, further restrictions in the state will be considered.

Meantime, booster dose vaccination in the state will start tomorrow. The booster dose is given to health workers, Covid fighters and those above 60 with comorbidities.

The booster dose is given to those after nine months of receiving the second dose of vaccine. Bookings will start from today. In this situation, Health Minister Veena George asked everyone in the age group to take the booster dose.
