145 marriages held at Guruvayur temple on Sunday amid tight curbs, 17 cancelled

THRISSUR: Despite tight restrictions in the state on Sunday due to Covid spike, 145 marriages took place at the Guruvayur temple today. These weddings were booked earlier. As many as 162 weddings were booked in advance today, but 17 weddings were canceled due to the curbs. The weddings were held from 5 in the morning till the closure of the sanctum sanctorum after noon pooja.

In addition to the restrictions imposed by the state following the Covid spike, the Devaswom Board had also imposed restrictions inside the temple. As part of the restrictions, 12 people, including photographers, were allowed to enter the wedding porch. Even then, police and security personnel struggled to control the crowds.
