NILAMBUR: Action has been taken against seven employees of KSRTC Nilambur depot for driving bus without one of the four rear wheels. Mechanics K P Sukumaran, K Anoop, K T Abdul Gafoor, E Renjith Kumar, A P Tippu Muhasin, tyre inspector N Abdul Aziz, driver K Subramanyan are those under suspension. The bus which left for Kozhikode on October 7, 2021 had only one tyre on the right side. The driver and the conductor found this serious lapse during the journey.

The bus was in the workshop on the previous day of leaving Kozhikode. On this day the mechanics had arranged the spring set of the bus as per the instructions of the duty charge man. However, the charge man did not get the log sheet of this bus and record the work or instruct the mechanics to do so. The log sheet was not examined by the tyre inspector who instructed to change the tyre of the bus to another bus. There were lapses on the driver in charge of the vehicle supervisor. He had to drive the bus and check whether it was fit for service. The employees were suspended following this. The action is based on the investigation report submitted by inspector C Balan.
