Appointment in Kannur University’s Board of Studies cancelled; action illegal, says high court

KANNUR: The high court has cancelled the appointment of the Board of Studies of Kannur University. The division bench quashed the single bench order upholding the appointment. The high court’s interim order said the university's action is illegal.

The plea was against the appointment of members without the permission of the chancellor also the Governor. The single bench order was that there was nothing illegal in the university's action. The interim order is now on the plea filed against it by the division bench.

The division bench order also took note of the affidavit of Governor Arif Mohammad Khan that the appointment was illegal. The governor's affidavit made it clear that he had the authority to appoint members to the Board of Studies.
