Will that slap be a setback? Police all set to arrest Will Smith; Producer reveals why actor wasn’t jailed

LOS ANGELES: Will Smith had shocked the whole world with his public attack at the Oscars stage. Talks about the actor’s behaviour were rife across the world. The video of him slapping the host had gone viral on social media. Will Smith had hit the Academy awards host Chris Rock for joking about his wife Jada Smith’s hairstyle. Now, Oscars Producer Will Packer has revealed some more facts behind the incident.

After the incident, the police reached the area. They offered to arrest Will Smith. However, Rock declined to press charges against him.

‘’He was like, No, no, no, I’m fine”, Packer said. “The LAPD officers finished laying out what his options were and they said, ‘Would you like us to take any action?’ And he said no,” Packer said in a clip released by a news channel. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has also confirmed Packer’s statement.

Even though he slapped the host, Smith was awarded the Oscar for the Best Actor for his performance in ‘King Richard’. Reports had earlier suggested that the host had asked Smith to immediately leave the stage following the incident. However, the Oscars organizers have denied the report. Later, the actor had apologized to the Academy for his behaviour in a meeting held via Google meet.
