Murder of Sreenivasan: Police get clear clues about killers, social media under observation

PALAKKAD: The post-mortem proceedings of slain RSS leader Sreenivasan will begin soon. The body will be taken to Kannaki Nagar School as procession at 11 am. The body will be cremated at Karukodi Cemetery at 2 pm after the public homage.

The investigation into the case is progressing. The police have received clear clues about the killer group. The accused are likely to be arrested soon. The bike of the killers will be taken into custody. ADGP Vijay Sakhare has reached Palakkad.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped in the district. Police are monitoring social media in the wake of the killings. Authorities said they would take stern action against those who send messages creating communal hatred. The BJP has accused the SDPI of being behind the killing of the RSS leader.

Sreenivasan, the owner of SKS Auto Consulting firm in Palakkad and former Sharirik Shikshan Pramukh of RSS, was hacked to death at around 1 pm on Saturday. Five men in three bikes committed the crime.

Meantime, five people have so far been taken into custody in connection with the murder of SDPI leader Subair. They were arrested on suspicion of aiding the killers and who had earlier received information about the murder. Of the 22 people released after questioning, six are still under police surveillance. The discrepancy in their statements is examined.

Subair, Popular Front area president, was allegedly hit by a car while returning on a bike from the mosque with his father and attacked using sharp-edged weapons at Elappully in the district. Subair’s father suffered injuries after falling from the bike and has been admitted to a hospital.
