PALAKKAD: Alathur UDF candidate Ramya Haridas on Friday revealed video footage showing weapons being taken out from a car used by the LDF candidate for campaigning. Chelakkara police intervened as the incident became controversial. The police also summoned some LDF workers to the station on Friday.
Meanwhile, LDF workers denied the rumours about the tools and said it was kept for fixing a flex board in the constituency. LDF leader Surendran admitted to his presence in the car. Surendran said that the tools were kept safely inside the car to avoid the strict police inspection on the roads. According to him, the tools consisted of two big machetes.
LDF candidate K Radhakrishnan also came forward denying the allegations of UDF. He said the war is not using weapons but using ballots and also denied knowing any of the workers who accompanied him in the car.
‘Let the investigation be done. UDF has got nothing else to blame so they are bringing up lame reasons to divert the discourse.” said Radhakrishnan.
Meanwhile, security arrangements for smooth and safe polling in the Lok Sabha elections have been completed. Police deployment has been made in the state as per the instructions of the Central Election Commission.
