THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan left for the United States for medical treatment Sunday morning. The chief minister boarded an early morning flight from the capital city. His wife Kamala and personal assistant V A Suneesh have accompanied him.

He will undergo treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for 18 days. The chief minister has not handed over his charge to anyone in the ministry. He will attend the cabinet meet via online. He will stay in the US for more days if needed.

He had undergone treatment at the Mayo Clinic in January. The doctors had directed follow-up treatment but the trip was delayed due to the need to attend the CPM party congress.
