LAHORE: In a suspected case of honour killing, a 21-year-old dancer was shot dead by her brother in Pakistan. The incident took place in Punjab province in Pakistan. The deceased has been identified as Sidra, a native of Renala Khurd Okara. The 21-year-old woman shot dead by her brother Hamza for pursuing dancing and modeling as a career despite opposition from relatives.

Police said Sidra had been active in dance and modeling for years. Sidra, who had acted in advertisements for a leading clothing company in Pakistan, had also performed in dance shows in some theaters. However, her family members asked her to quit dancing and modeling.

According to police, Sidra had a quarrel with her parents and brother over the issue the other day. Later in the day, Hamza opened fire on Sidra, killing her on the spot. Police also said that Hamza used to physically assault Sidra for defaming the family.

Hamza killed Sidra after he got infuriated at her when he saw her dance performance on his mobile phone forwarded to him by a relative. Hamza told police that he shot his sister in a fit of rage. This is the second honour killing in Pakistan in the last three months. Nineteen-year-old dancer Aisha was shot dead by her ex-husband last February
