LUCKNOW: An 18-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint stating that she was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by three men, while she went out to invite people for her wedding. The incident took place in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. She also alleged that the accused took her to a political leader and later sold her to another person.

The woman’s wedding was to be held on April 21. According to her complaint, she was abducted on April 18 while she was going to distribute her wedding cards. The accused had kept her at different places for a few days and then handed her over to a political party’s leader. She was then sent to a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia and was forced to stay with someone else. Afterwards, the woman somehow managed to call her father and informed her relatives of the incident. Following which, the police arrived at the spot and rescued the woman.

The police have registered cases on various sections on the complaint lodged by the woman. The woman’s statement has been recorded before the magistrate, said Tehrauli circle officer Anuj Singh. The matter is being seriously investigated and legal action will be taken against the offenders, he added.
