THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 'Valyammachi's(aunt) presence always gave us courage. It is only now that I realize the emptiness her departure.', says Beena, daughter of Gowriamma's sister. Gowriamma passed away on May 11 last year. Beena remembers about her childhood memories with her aunt.'She loved kids. I loved her more than my own mother. Her stand for the common people was always remarkable.' says Beena. She also loved my kids as well.

19 cents land and house in Alappuzha was written in my name but I have not received it yet. As soon as it is received, it will be handed over to the government to build the monument of Valyammachi. The KR Gowriamma Foundation was formed by Valyammachi's friends and some relatives. The Gauriamma Award will be presented on Valyammachi's birthday to those who work to improve the living conditions of the marginalized and oppressed.
