Director taken into custody for sharing old pic of Amit Shah with Pooja Singhal arrested in money laundering case

AHMEDABAD: Director Avinash Das has been taken into custody for sharing the picture of IAS official Pooja Singhal arrested in money laundering case along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Ahmedabad city crime branch took Avinash into custody.

Police said he shared the photo taken five years ago to tarnish and defame the image of Amit Shah. He was also charged for disrespecting the national flag by posting a modified photo of a lady wearing a tricolour.

The director tweeted the image on May 8. Avinash Das is best known for Anarkali of Ara. The investigation into the incident is progressing. There are also allegations that the film shared by the director is fake. The director's Twitter and Facebook pages have disappeared following the controversy.

A few days back, ED arrested Jharkhand Mining Secretary Pooja Singhal in a money laundering case. She was arrested on charges of embezzling Rs 18 crore in connection with the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme.
