THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP district president Adv. Suresh has alleged that the CPM took crores of money from the Congress and cross voted for Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor’s victory. Though the BJP was not able to open its account in Kerala in the just concluded Lok Sabha election, its base in Kerala has strengthened.
“We accept the defeat in Thiruvananthapuram. The BJP got 25, 000 votes less than what was expected. Polarisation of minority communities happened in favour of Tharoor in the State. Cross voting happened in as many as 400 votes and even CPM regional leaders cross-voted for Shashi Tharoor,” Suresh said.
The BJP district president said that Shashi Tharoor reached number one position because of vote sale in CPM strongholds. “CPI leader C Divakaran was made a sacrificial hen. We believe that the NSS votes went only to the BJP and in Vattiyoorkavu by-election we shall strike back with ‘interest’.”
