Murder of shooter Sippy Sidhu: Daughter of Himachal Justice arrested

NEW DELHI: The CBI has arrested a woman in connection with the murder of national shooting star and lawyer Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu (Sippy Sidhu). The arrested has been identified as Kalyani Singh, the girlfriend of Sippy Sidhu. She is the daughter of Himachal Pradesh High Court Acting Chief Justice Sabina. Sippy Sidhu, the grandson of former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge SS Sidhu, was shot dead by unknown assailants on September 20, 2015. Sippy Sidhu's body was found in a park in Chandigarh with five bullets. The case was taken over by the CBI in January 2016.

According to the CBI, the revenge over the break-up between Sippy Sidhu and Kalyani led to the crime. She was arrested after being summoned to the CBI office. She has been remanded for four days. Kalyani will be questioned in detail to identify the others involved in the incident and to find the weapon and vehicles used in the murder.

Love turned vengeance

The CBI found that Sippy Sidhu and Kalyani Singh were in love. Kalyani wanted to marry Sidhu. However, Sidhu's parents opposed his relationship with Kalyani. Following this, Sidhu withdrew from the relationship. Later, Sidhu sent some personal photos of Kalyani to her parents and friends. This provoked Kalyani to seek vengeance against Sidhu.
