Building number fraud in Kozhikode Corporation; police launch investigation

kk

Kozhikode: Police have launched an investigation into the illegal allotment of numbers to some illegal buildings in the Kozhikode Corporation. The action was taken on a complaint filed by Corporation Secretary KU Binni to the City Police Commissioner.

Following the instruction from the Commissioner, Kozhikode Town Police registered cases under charges such as forgery and various IT sections. No one has been named accused so far. Beypore police will investigate irregularities within the limits of the Beypore zonal office.

The login information given to the employees in 'Sanchaya', the online software of the Information Kerala Mission, which records the property tax assessment information of the buildings within the Corporation, was misused. It was found that six buildings in the city were allotted such numbers. The buildings had been given work permits and taxes were obtained by giving the digital sign. Police will also look into allegations that thousands of buildings in the city have been given such numbers.
