THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MV Govindan said that steps will be taken to avoid buying liquor by standing in the queue in front of the beverage outlets in the state. Beverages outlets will switch to a new model in which boozers can choose their favourite bottle of liquor. He said the existing outlets would be converted to the same model.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court had asked the state government to stop this system of buying liquor by standing in queues in front of shops. It was earlier reported that the Excise Department was planning to implement a new method of purchase like in supermarkets by making payments directly at the billing counter after selecting the preferred brand.
