DUBAI: The government has sharply increased the financial assistance for limited-income citizens. The increase ranges from 20 to 67 per cent. The fund for providing financial support to low-income citizens has been increased to 58 per cent this year. 438 million dirhams have been set aside for aid this year. This amount is payable to beneficiaries who are registered with the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai.

Families with senior citizens, widows and divorced women are eligible for financial assistance. Depending on the additional needs of the families, the increase ranges from 20 to 67 per cent. The decision to increase the amount was taken at a meeting chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince. He said UAE citizens are their top priority. He called on all government agencies to focus on the social sector.
