Another Plus two student commits suicide in Tamil Nadu; state in shock of third case in two weeks

CHENNAI: Another student suicide has been reported in Tamil Nadu. A Plus two student from Cuddalore committed suicide due to rift with mother and pressure from studies. The reason has been clarified in the girl's suicide note.The police have registered a case of unnatural death in the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

The parents wanted the girl to become a civil servant. They put pressure on the girl because of this. It is reported that they used to scold her for not studying. The student was sent for civil service training and it is indicated that the she committed suicide due to the stress of all this. The third student death has been reported after the suicides in Kallalakurichi and Tiruvallur became controversial. On July 13, a student committed suicide in the hostel of Shakti School in Kallakurichi. This led to widespread protest and destruction of school buses and police vehicles. The protestors also destroyed the office of the school. Later, a plus two student committed suicide in the hostel at Sacred Hearts Aided School in Tiruvallur.
