THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The petition filed by the family of violinist Balabhaskar demanding a re-investigation into his accidental death has been rejected. The court accepted the charge sheet filed by the CBI. The CBI found that Balabhaskar's death was accidental. The court directed the driver Arjun, who is the only accused in the case, to appear on October 1. Balabhaskar's family filed the petition saying that the CBI investigation was unsatisfactory. The family has decided to appeal the verdict in the High Court. Balabhaskar's father KC Unni said that there was an attempt to sabotage the investigation from the beginning and he believes that the accident was caused by a gold smuggling gang.

Balabhaskar's car met with an accident in the early hours of September 25, 2018 at Pallipuram on the national highway near Kazhakoottam, Thiruvananthapuram. The singer's died immediately. Balabhaskar died while undergoing treatment. Balabhaskar's friends were accused in the gold smuggling case at the airport, following which the relatives became suspicious of the accident and demanded further investigation.
