KOZHIKODE: Gold worth Rs 75 lakh seized from two passengers at Kozhikode airport. The preventive department of the customs conducted the gold hunt on the basis of secret information. 578.69 grams of gold was seized from the luggage of Abdul Majeed, a native of Kozhikode. The gold was found hidden inside the armature of the exhaust fan among the luggage. The crime came to light during the inspection conducted after noticing the difference in the weight of the luggage. Gold was seized by breaking the fan with the help of metal cutter.
Customs recovered 848.6 grams of gold mixture from Nasser, a native of Vadakara. 776.6 grams of gold was extracted from this mixture. Within the last week, the Customs Preventive Section seized gold worth around 4 crores from the Kozhikode airport. A team consisting of Superintendent Prakash M, Inspector Harshit Tiwari and Head Havildar EV Mohanan participated in the inspection on the instructions of Assistant Commissioner Sinoy K Mathew.
