Scooter rider dies after falling in pothole on NH, locals stages protest

KOCHI: A scooter rider met a tragic end after falling into a pothole on the national highway at Athani near Angamaly. The accident happened on Friday night. AA Hashim (52)of Anchamparuthikkal House in Thamaramuk in Manakkapadi in Paravur's Manjali has been identified as the deceased.

Hashim is the owner of 'Hotel Badriyya' at Angamaly Telk junction. After the scooter fell into the pit, he fell on the opposite side of the road and a lorry ran over Hashim's body. He died on the spot.

The accident took place near Nedumbassery MAHS School on Angamaly-Edappally road at around 11 pm. The police said that they will investigate the case after checking the CCTV footage.

The pit was not visible due to water-logging following heavy rain. AIYF workers protested in the accident area. Accidents are common here. Many passengers have been injured by falling into the potholes here.
