LONDON: British author J K Rowling (57) who introduced a magical world through Harry Potter series has received death threat. Rowling, who condemned the attack on Indian-origin British author Salman Rushdie in New York, received the threat on Twitter.
Rowling on Friday tweeted that the attack against Rushdie is horrifying. In response, a user wrote: "Don't worry. You are next." The username is Mir Asif Aziz and location is in Pakistan. The user also praised Hadi Matar who attacked Rushdie and called him a revolutionary Shia warrior.
Rowling herself released a screenshot of the comment. Scottish police have launched an investigation into online threats against Rowling. She also informed Twitter officials about the threat but Twitter responded that the reported content did not violate their rules. Rowling also came out against this reply of Twitter and said that violence and terrorism should not be encouraged. Meanwhile, it is reported that the person who tweeted the death threat removed it on yesterday.
